How to complete a navigation log for your cross country flight

Do you know how to complete a navigation log? If you are a student pilot preparing for a PPL or CPL flight test you will need to know how to use a navigation log {navlog} to plan a cross country flight….on paper. We are aware that ForeFlight will do all of this planning for you within minutes, possibly seconds. However, if you are getting your pilot licence in Canada you will need to show the examiner that you are able to properly plan a cross country flight, long hand.

Save Your Money

Learning to fill out a navlog can be a very expensive task, especially if you are a PPL student completing one for the first time. You will likely need to sit down with your instructor for an hour or two and have them guide you step-step-through the process. Ground instruction rates vary from $50 to $90 an hour in Canada. We are sure you can do the maths. Wouldn’t it be nice to save that money and use it towards a ForeFlight subscription?

Step By Step Online Navigation Log Course

Since we know from first hand experience how mucyh money goes into learning how to complete a navigation log we have created our own course to try and help students save money. The course goes step by step how to fill out the log and make the calculations. It includes ‘how to'” for the navigation, fuel, weight and balance, and the runway sections. We think it is a good course that will teach you exactly how to fill out a navlog on your time, at your own pace, at a fraction of the cost.

I spent hundreds having this explained to me by an instructor at $80 an hour. Would have have been great to have an online course that could have taught me instead of one-on-one instruction that I can’t go back and review.

Is there a discussion forum for this navlog course if I have any questions?
